The abject body expressed in paint

This body of work explores the abject body through the expression of painting, integrating Feminist and Queer theories with Julia Kristeva's concepts of the abject. Comprising three interconnected pieces—A Monstrous Engorging, A Monstrous Expression, and A Monstrous Transgression—the collection uses vibrant colours, varied visual textures, surfaces and innovative compositions to challenge conventional views of beauty and the body. These works engage viewers in a critical examination of the abject body, using colour, form, and composition to provoke thought and challenge perceptions of bodily identity.

Flesh

A body of work comprised of smaller experiments, a publication (Entanglement of Flesh) and one large painting (Flesh 99:32). This body of work is an extension of myself. Flesh 99:32 explores body from sight, touch, experience and relationships; celebrating the abject and grotesque that we are drawn to. Looking into habitation of a space between and matter out of place. The term ‘flesh’ has religious connotations and referencing morality, desire and vulnerability which encompasses its concept.
